- KLETC Director Ed Pavey retired from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, as a Division Commander, after 21 years, in November of 1989. Director Pavey previously directed the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Training Academy and served three years as a charter member of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission, now known as the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training. He has a bachelor's degree from Wichita State University, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (137th Session), the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program (32nd Session), Quantico, Virginia, and the FBI Central States Law Enforcement Executive Development Program in 1991. Director Pavey was named KLETC Assistant Director on December 1, 1989, Acting Director on July 18, 1994, and on July 18, 1995, he was appointed by the University of Kansas as the Center's 3rd director since KLETC was created by the Legislature in 1968.
